Budget Malibu! Building Revell's '66 Malibu for less than $40. Is this even possible?

I've heard a lot of talk about how expensive model car building has become. So I decided to try to see how cheap I can build Revell's '66 Malibu. The plan is to use as many easily available products resulting in a great looking model that anyone should be able to replicate. There is some fine print that I explain, but all of the paint, detail items, even aftermarket doo dads will get factored into the final cost. Is it possible that it can be finished on a $40 budget?
