“Santa Claus in Trouble” is a platformer released in 2002 by Joymania Development, commissioned by CDV Software. This is very noticeable, as extra lives are represented by the company’s logo. In the game, we play as Santa Claus. We collect scattered presents, jump across platforms, and avoid enemies. Does the game have any deeper story? Not really, unless we count the very creative installation screens shown at the end of the video. The game is completed “for points”. You earn them by collecting presents and based on how much time you have left at the end of each level. After finishing the game, you can check the high-score table or see yourself standing on the podium. The game suffers from mediocre controls, strange collision detection when dealing with moving elements, and the inability to backtrack for missed presents. My gameplay is not the best you can find, but I swear I tried. I completed the game three times, and each time something went wrong. In the end, I stitched together the two best runs, so please don’t pay too much attention to the score differences.
