THE SOULS OF BLACK FOLK by W.E.B. Du Bois, Chapter 8: "Of the Quest of the Golden Fleece"

W.E.B. Du Bois is a major thinker in the American political thought tradition and had a towering influence upon the study of race and racism in the United States. However, we rarely take the time to appreciate the entire sweep of his classic work. Clinton Church Restoration's 14-week online community read of The Souls of Black Folk is moderated by Dr. Frances Jones-Sneed, historian, board member and chair of our Scholars Council. Each week, she is joined by a guest scholar for a presentation of a single chapter of Du Bois’ classic text, followed by a discussion with the audience. Chapter 8: “Of the Quest of the Golden Fleece” Guest scholar: Dr. Kiese Laymon If you enjoy this presentation, please consider a donation to support Clinton Church Restoration's work to create an African American Cultural Center in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, the hometown of W.E.B. Du Bois. Donate or learn more at clintonchurchrestoration.org.
