Norton Commando Engine Rebuild. Part 67: Fitting the Barrels Part 1
This video is part of a series covering the full strip down and rebuild of a MKII 850 Norton Commando engine. This particular video shows the cylinder barrels being fitted over the pistons. First of all the cylinder base gasket is fitted, followed by piston ring clamps. The barrels, appropriately lubricated, are then slowly fitted over the pistons. When in place the clamps are removed, and after carefully rotating the engine to lift the pistons up the bores, the barrels sit loosely on the crankcases.
