When you open to a deeper love, an older fear often rises with it. Lee Harris shares something very fresh in this conversation: he met his beloved just two and a half months ago, and alongside the beauty of it came the sudden awareness that he could lose him. His mind offered a whole host of frightening scenarios. So he did what he would do with any frightened friend. He sat with the fear, and he asked himself a direct question. If you knew he would die in a year, would you still choose to love him now? There was no hesitation. Absolutely, yes. That, he explains, is what opening the heart actually asks of us. A new level of love brings a new layer of fear, often connected to old places in our history where we once stopped love to protect ourselves. The fear is not the enemy. It wants to keep you safe. The work is to feel it, let it be seen, and not judge yourself for it. And here Lee offers a reframe that the Zs return to often: the thing you perceive as your flaw, your wrinkle, your crease, the part of yourself you wish were different, is actually giving balance to everything else. It may be exactly what is holding you in place. He closes with a striking story about choice. Living in Boulder near Wonderland Lake, amid what he describes as a lot of subtle extraterrestrial activity, Lee says he was telepathically offered a first-contact experience. A soul voice within him answered no, because such an experience would have changed him so dramatically that he could no longer do what he came here to do.
