Alpine Skiing: Snow Plough Turn Key Points - Beginners, Advanced Drill, for Ski Instructors
The advantage of a slow turn is that everything happens as if we were experiencing skiing in slow motion. It allows us to understand and see the details we can't notice or realize in a parallel turn. At the same time, it is a bigger challenge for advanced skiers and pros because, on a higher level, a proper snow plow turn doesn't tolerate imprecision and gives obvious and direct feedback on mistakes. This is one of the most effective ways to work out some important details we can adapt and incorporate in more dynamic skiing later. How I see the world of skiing, one of the reasons for ski technical issues is that advanced skiers and pro skiers aren't patient and humble enough to take the time to perfect such details as the snow plough turn. In this video, we collected the essential key points to double-check the quality of skiing, separately for beginners, advanced skiers, and ski instructors. Most of those points are valid for more advanced ski techniques, too. As you can see, for beginner skiers, the emphasis is mostly on the shaping of the curve and the approach of the curve-slope relation instead of the discrete movements. Actually, a basic snow plow turn is a pretty simple movement. Generally, it is enough for a few hours to make a 1-1 turn until stopping and then connecting them. After this, the most important thing is to learn that turning on the slope is everything in skiing. A good round turn usually organizes the movements in a good way. Too many movement drills overload and distract attention from the main point: how to move on the slope. We can develop more technical details when a beginner can ski wherever he wants with turns of any radius and can stop with a turn on a nursery slope. ► CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 0:38 For Beginners 2:09 For Advanced Skiers 3:59 For Ski Instructors #atomicski Gear: Atomic Redster Ti 150 Atomic G9 RS 176/21 Atomic S9 FIS 165/12.1 ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Please watch: "How Forward Lean Kills Your Skiing Progress" • How Forward Lean Kills Your Skiing Progress ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
