GOOD LOVE Understanding the natural and sociocultural resources of the Canary Islands' coastline is fundamental to understanding the archipelago. If we study, conserve, and use them effectively, we will benefit present and future generations. Part of this knowledge is held within local communities and in the collective memory of their people. The richness of this intergenerational heritage must not be forgotten, much less ignored. The path toward the ideal of sustainable development, oriented toward respect for the environment as well as the preservation of natural resources and the quality of life of its inhabitants over time, must also be a tool for promoting local culture. In this way, the future management of each area will be linked to its unique natural, social, and cultural characteristics. The Buenamar project's main objective is to recover maritime knowledge: artisanal fishing in the Canary Islands, traditional local practices, ancient techniques and crafts, local characteristics, and the professions practiced along the coast. This is achieved through direct interviews with the key figures involved: sailors, fishermen, skippers, shipwrights, boat builders, traditional fishermen, woodcarvers, and others. The aim is to disseminate the traditional knowledge acquired on each of the eight islands. Images and sounds are recorded in these locations, and the people involved are interviewed. The result is a comprehensive series of interviews across the eight Canary Islands about traditional Canarian maritime knowledge. These interviews generate unique content of great ethnographic value that should be shared and disseminated to everyone.
