Coney Island (1917) - Buster Keaton & Roscoe Arbuckle
Coney Island (released as Fatty at Coney Island) is a 1917 American silent short film starring, written and directed by Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Buster Keaton co-stars in the two-reel comedy. The film follows Fatty as he tries to ditch his wife so he can freely enjoy the rides, games and attractions at Coney Island amusement park. Buster arrives at the park with his date Alice, but she is soon stolen away from him by another suitor named Al. Al ends up losing Alice to Fatty, who takes her on the rides. With its seaside Coney Island setting, the short features Fatty and Buster indulging in the park activities. There are likely hilarious moments involving the characters on the amusement rides and attractions. They pursue Alice across the park grounds, resulting in amusement for the audience if not for Buster and Al. Coney Island captures Arbuckle's comic style and Keaton's stone-faced antics as they romp through the iconic Brooklyn amusement park. The action-filled short exemplifies the playful spirit of the duo's collaborations. #busterkeaton #roscoearbuckle #oldhollywood #classichollywood #hollywood #1910s #1920s #silentfilm #comedy
