Leen Vandenhende - With His First Breath (baritone horn, baritone ensemble and tuba) P.Lovatt-Cooper

With His First Breath is the beautiful slow melody taken from the middle movement of the brilliant major work Breath of Souls. I love the music of Paul Lovatt-Cooper, not only because I find it very nice to listen to and play, but it also features the baritone horn in a very rewarding way. I don't doubt the composer got inspired by baritone star Katrina Marzella, when writing solo pieces for the baritone horn. This piece is dedicated to his son, Luca. I recorded the music with myself as the baritone horn soloist and the baritone horn accompanying ensemble, but a guest role in terms of a fundamental tuba part was assigned to my lockdown buddy and partner (in crime) Guy Audenaert.
