Real Category - Dufay Competition Five Movements For String Quartet Composition and arrangement by Zoran Šćekić Performed by "String Quartet Slawonsky" Recorded by Vinko Šincek, Zagreb 2001 Five Movements for String Quartet is a composition that I wrote towards the end of my studies in guitar, composition and arrangement at the Jazz Department of the Kunst Universitat Graz in 2001. The composition is a stylistically free commission for a solo dance performance choreographed, performed and produced by my sister Marija Šćekić. Each of the five movements functions as an autonomous musical entity and can be performed independently, i.e. without the need to perform the other movements. However, all five movements, successively performed in the order provided by the score, form a thematic whole based on contrasts and similarities, not only between the movements, but also between different parts, fragments, objects, excerpts and moments within a single movement.
