Upon introduction, media and consumer reviews of the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were universally positive. The design and engineering was nothing short of revolutionary. Though generic looking to modern eyes, the first gen Ford Taurus was considered so futuristic looking at introduction, it was featured prominently in film and TV shows that took place in the near future such as Robocop.
