6 Strings to Heaven

Some songs arrive gently. This one kicked the door in. I’ve noticed something strange over the last two years: the more frustrated I become with God, the better the music seems to get. I don’t know what to make of that. I wish I could tell you every song came from peace, gratitude, and quiet reflection but that wouldn’t be true. Sometimes they come from disappointment. Sometimes they come from wrestling. Sometimes they come from shouting into the silence. This instrumental was born out of one of those moments. The strange part is that no matter how frustrated I become, I can’t seem to escape the relationship. And if I’m being honest… I’m not even sure I’d want to. You can stomp away in anger, throw your hands in the air, swear you’re done… and somehow you’re still having the same conversation. Maybe that’s the point. Maybe faith isn’t the absence of conflict. Maybe it’s refusing to stop showing up. So here’s my latest conversation. No words.
