The red lanterns, the scent of burning incense, the colorful swallowtail roofs, and the historic architecture bearing distinct Nanyang (Southeast Asian) traces—they all vividly echoed the memories of where I grew up. The everyday things I took for granted suddenly revealed their older, ancestral origins here in Quanzhou. Over these four days, we wandered through the ancient streets, savored authentic local delicacies, and sipped tea by the quiet alleys. We also experienced the breathtaking heritage of string puppetry, Gaojia opera, and Nanyin music. Step by step, the long, historic thread linking Quanzhou and Nanyang unfolded before us.
