The approach to the InterContinental Fiji Resort sets a distinct tone with a long, manicured driveway leading up the hillside. Because of the local topography, the main arrival pavilion is built several stories above the beach level, offering immediate views of the ocean as you walk in. While the grand entrance is effective, the heavy use of gray commercial building materials throughout the property misses an opportunity to reflect authentic Fijian heritage. The resort spans 35 acres and sits along the southern coast on Natadola Bay, roughly an hour's drive from Nadi International Airport. Taxis from the airport operate on fixed-rate fares, which is straightforward as long as you carry cash. The physical layout places the arrival structures on the left, while the main public spaces, restaurants, and swimming areas cluster directly along the beachfront. The room provided was a Garden View King, situated in a multi-unit block rather than a freestanding structure. While the bed itself was perfectly comfortable, the interior furniture lacked functional design—the accent chairs were notably uncomfortable, and the work desk lacked an actual chair, requiring a workaround using the coffee table. Cleanliness also fell short of five-star expectations, with noticeable dust and minor oversight areas that required a more detailed eye from housekeeping. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it! #intercontinental #fiji #hotelreview
