Groovy Ambient Jam with the Moog Sound Studio 3 (DFAM, Mother-32, Subharmonicon)

This week I took a short break from making big, gauzy soundscapes in Ableton to break out my Moogs and get ready for a small live set (OK, an open mic night). Once I came up with a good DFAM loop that I liked, everything else came together pretty quickly. The Mother-32 is just playing a randomized D Dorian scale spread over a few octaves, with lots of rests to keep it sparse and dubby. The Subharmonicon is doing its big fuzz organ thing, with each oscillator/sub pair tuned to play fifths. There's a big modular skiff next to the Moogs, on loan from the Portland Synthesizer Library, but the only modules used there are the Mannequins Just Friends, Make Noise Wogglebug, and some attenuators. Essentially, they're just providing some small filter modulation. Mordax DATA is providing a steady master clock. On the mixing side, I used Valhalla Vintage Verb (Concert algorithm), Ableton's Echo, and Arturia's EFX Fragments doing a granular shimmer reverb on a very light send. The mastering chain is, in order: Ableton Glue Compressor, Arturia PRE-73, and the LTL Silver Bullet. Thanks for listening!
