2026-2027 Florida All-State M.S. Band Tenor Saxophone Lyrical Etude- Instructional Video

Instrument set up in this recording--- Yamaha YTS-875 Custom Tenor with a V1 custom neck, Caravan Mouthpiece, Rovner Ligature, Legere- French Cut size 4 reed. Recording equipment used--- iPhone 11 camera and mic. Tips and Practice Techniques--- For decrescendos, don't start to get quieter until after you arrive on the specific note they are under (EX- Arrive on the "G" at measure 2, then decrescendo) Notes that are followed by a rest, you must use an "air lift" release so that the sound tapers off into the silence. 16th note pick up notes at the end of m5 & 6, don't play too early (I made that mistake) Watch out for the F# accidentals at m7, 13, 15, & 16. If you make another "F" sharp when it's supposed to be natural, make sure to put a "natural sign" marking on it. 32nd notes in m19 happen right on the "&" of beat 3, and must be played smoothly. The only dynamic marking from m1-20 is "p" at m1. So you must decide how loud and soft you want your crescendos and decrescendos to get and how loud each section should be. #FloridaBandmastersAssociation #FloridaAllState #FloridaMusicEducatorsAssociation #saxophone
