Touring A Muscadine Winery | Hey Y'all | Southern Living

Join Ivy Odom as she explores a muscadine winery in north Alabama. Ivy is a novice sommelier but realized she doesn’t know much about Alabama wine. She sets out to change that with a tour of a muscadine winery, a speciality in the South. She packs up a picnic to take to the winery and hits the road. At Wills Creek Winery, Janie Coppey gives Ivy a wine tasting. She introduces the Blush Muscadine—a beautiful light red wine that’s not as sweet as most muscadine wines. The Bronze Muscadine is a bit sweeter than the blush. They make it from a combination of white muscadine varieties. Janie shows Ivy the fermenting room and explains the winemaking process. She treats Ivy to some peach wine—a popular choice for Georgia natives like Ivy. In the bottling room, Janie walks through the bottling process. Outside in the muscadine field, the muscadine vines are dormant for winter.
