Questioning Jesus: Critically Considering Christian Claims with Dr. Nabeel Qureshi

On September 12th, 2015, Dr. Nabeel Qureshi addressed a full house at the University of Toronto on the topic “Questioning Jesus: Critically Considering Christian Claims.” Dr. Qureshi presented evidence for the Christian claim of Jesus and looked at alternative arguments and perspectives. After his talk he was joined by Dr. Andy Bannister for an open Question and Answer period. SPEAKER BIOS: Dr. Nabeel Qureshi received his MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School, an MA from Duke University and an MA from Biola University. Currently, he is a graduate student at the University of Oxford. Nabeel is an itinerant speaker with RZIM. As a former Muslim, and now a Christian, he is The New York Times bestselling author of "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity." Dr. Qureshi has lectured to students at over 100 universities, including Oxford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Hong Kong. He has participated in 18 public debates around North America, Europe, and Asia. His focus is on the foundations of the Christian faith, the early history and teachings of Islam, and the interface of science and religion. Dr. Andy Bannister is a popular author, speaker and broadcaster. He speaks and teaches regularly throughout Canada, the USA, Europe, and the wider world, addressing audiences of all faiths and none on issues of philosophy, belief, and scepticism. Andy holds a doctorate in Islamic studies from Brunel University, London and is Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Islam and Other Faiths at Melbourne School of Theology. Recently he authored the book: "The Atheist Who Didn't Exist Or: the Dreadful Consequences of Bad Arguments" (Oxford: Lion). In this book he looks at common atheist soundbites that at first glance sound quite powerful, but upon deeper examination begin to unravel.
