JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is currently in the public spotlight after Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, stated that the MBG kitchen (SPPG) had been overspent, resulting in a budget wastage of IDR 1 trillion per month. Furthermore, students held demonstrations urging the MBG program to be halted, claiming it was absorbing too much of the state budget. Meanwhile, the new leader of the National Non-Governmental Organization (BGN) promised to improve the MBG program through refocusing and budget efficiency. Agus Sarwono, a member of the MBG Watch Coalition, assessed that BGN lacks corruption mitigation measures. "There's no clear oversight," Agus said.
