8 MUST TRY Madrid Tapas! šŖšø Spanish Food Tour
Madrid Food is first of all tapas! In the Spanish capital, going for tapas is the most enjoyable way to experience Spanish food; you can spend days going in and out the very authentic eateries, where to sample affordable and home-style cooked Spanish cuisine, in miniature! In this Madrid food vlog I bring you to a tour of some very old-school places, as well as modern cafe's, to try the best 8 tapas that cannot be missed in this stunning city. Firstly we visit Hanso Cafe, in the MalasaƱa district; this is a small modern cafe visited mostly by University students of the area, and they have rapidly gained the fame of being one of the best place for trying the tostada; this is common spanish breakfast which consists in a thin slice of toasted bread with different types of toppings. I went for Jamon Serrano, rucola, avocado and goat cheese! Delicious! Then we move into one of the most beautiful Spanish Casqueria, Casa Toni. It's sufficient to step inside to realize that we are in an incredible place, so old-school and full of charm. You come here to try the mollejas, that is, lamb sweetbread and pig ears! This was an unexpected delicacy which I would try again and again in any trip to Madrid! We continue with one of the most famous masquerias in Madrid, Casa Labra, a centenary bar, which is stormed by tourists and locals form early morning, for their famous croquetas de bacalao (cod croquette). These were incredibly creamy, I was in disbelief and wanted to have like ten more, but the numbers are limited here, as they tend to run out pretty fast! The next marisqueria we visit is Bar La Campana, serving very traditional Bocadillo de calamares, a Spanish squid sandwich which is so simple yet so delicious. This is a no frill sandwich: incredible crunchy and fresh bread, fresh and slightly chewy squid: a magic just in front of Plaza Major! The third marisqueria we visit is La Casa Del Abuelo, where to try Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp). This is another staple of the tapas scene in madrid and again, it's a beautiful small clay pot full of jumbo shrimp with the strongest garlic flavour my nostril had ever the chance to smell! The next stop is for trying huevos rotos. I had originally gone to Casa Lucio, another famous restaurant in Madrid but I couldn't find a table there. Huevos rotos may look unexciting: a mountain of jamon cubes, over a fried egg, over a bed of french fries. I would agree that it is not as intriguing as the other tapas I've had here but it's certainly something that goes very well with an ice cold canha! We conclude this tapas food tour at Taberna La Concha; here you can try the some of the most amazing home-prepared vermouth, and a selection of Tapas which, while a bit on the expensive side, they are authentically made and so tasty. I went for the albondigas en salsa, which reminded me so much of my nonna's tomato meatball! 00:00 - Madrid Tapas 00:34 - Tostada 02:16 - Mollejas at Casa Toni 05:48 - Croquetas de Bacalao at Casa Labra 08:50 - Bocadillo de calamares at Bar La Campana 10:20 - Gambas al Ajillo at La Casa Del Abuelo 13:13 - Huevos Rotos 14:43 - Albóndigas en salsa at Taberna La Concha This is a travel for food channel and I enjoy eating street food around the world!
