Long Island Pine Barrens #GasPrice$ From Sunrise Highway, take exit 58 north. As you enter William Floyd Parkway, prepare to turn west onto Victory Avenue. Follow signs to main entrance to park. The Carmans River flows through this scenic, pine-oak forested park. Southaven is a popular picnicking site, containing group areas capable of accommodating up to 1,000 people. Southaven's 1,356 acres also offer a bicycle hostel. Boating and freshwater fishing are permitted. Camping is also available, with sites for tents and trailers. Amenities 1. Reservations Green Key holders can make reservations through the Parks Online Reservation System. Walk-up campers may reserve site(s) on same day, availability of a site is not guaranteed and is first come first served Resident and Non-Resident VIP Green Key cardholders may make reservations from 1 to 180 days in advance. Non-Green Key holders can make reservations from 1 to 180 days in advance, but only 45 days in advance for holiday weeks (Holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day). What do I need to make a reservation? You will need either a Suffolk County Parks Green Key card (residents only) or a Suffolk County Parks Non-Resident Key card in order to make a reservation. The Non-Resident Key card can be purchased online with an active online account. Online Reservations become available at 7:00 pm for the new day. rom the time of check out. 2. Camping Season In-season camping is between April 1st-Veterans Day unless otherwise posted. (Season is weather dependent. 3. Check- In Check-in time for campers with reservations is 4:00 pm on the first day of reservation. Campers may contact the park directly to see if early check-in is available. Campers must check in by 9:00 pm on the date your reservation starts or contact the park with anticipated arrival date, otherwise camper will be considered a No-Show 8. Pets It is the pet owner’s responsibility to ensure all pets staying/visiting the campground are inoculated per local and state regulations. Proof of inoculations for any pets that will be staying on site may be requested at any time. Proof includes Rabies Certificate or tag dated for current year Only domesticated animals are permitted in Suffolk County Parks. Pets are not permitted in bathrooms, picnic areas or areas where food is served to the public. Pets must be on no more than a 6’ leash and under owners control at all times. Pets are never to be left unattended on county property. Two (2) pets per campsite permitted. Owners are responsible for the proper disposal of pet waste. 9. Generators Generators are only permitted to operate between 9am-1pm and 5pm-9pm. Generator placement should be in a location that does not interfere with other campers. Generators creating excessive noise may be requested to be shut off. Generators shall not be left unattended 16. All camp fires must in approved fire rings/containers with solid bottom only.
