Terrace Farming... Before the paddy can be transplanted,the manfolk undertake vital labour-intensive work of preparingthe field. This involves breaking down the tough and compacted soil in the dry bed through ploughing,followed by digging of soil and puddling of the field.This removes weeds and soften the soil and readies the field for transplanting. As the manfolk work together,they sing traditional folk songs,whose rythms echo through the terraces,timing with their movement,believing this ease their physical strain,while preserving our rich oral heritage and strengthening the social bonds that hold our community together.
