Cross cultural communication: 3 basic aspects of culture
In this video, I cover three basic aspects of cross-cultural communication that are useful to pay attention to no matter what cultures are involved. Once you become conscientious of these details you will feel and act comfortably in any cross-cultural situation. The 3 specifics of culture I cover are the perception of time, non-verbal communication, and the level of directness. Any culture is a complex code. The definition I use for culture here is this: culture is a system of ideas and behaviors that is accepted and familiar to a particular group of people. I use the idea of high-context and low-context cultures as a framework for covering these points. Generally speaking, low-context cultures are Western-European cultures and those with heavy western-European influence such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Much of the rest of the world are high-context. We are so interconnected today no matter where we live. I hope you find this video helpful in navigating our global environment! ✨ 🔹// SUBSCRIBE TO TAKE YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS TO THE NEXT LEVEL / @communicationplus NEW VIDEOS EVERY THURSDAY // WHAT TO WATCH NEXT Presenting in English: 3 Practical tips for NON-NATIVE speakers • Presenting in English: 3 Practical tips fo...
