AROS GUITAR DUO - i foråret

Composer: Asger Buur (b. 1987) "I foråret" (in spring) is a fantasy for guitar duo composed by the young danish composer Asger Buur. The piece consist of an atmospheric introduction, followed by a wild and dynamic middlepart written in rondeau-form that spins out of control and returns to the introduction, but this time it has changed a bit with several very colorful harmonies and a very simple and moving melody in the end. The piece is based on one of the oldest known danish melodies, 'in vernalis temporis' which was written by the old principal of Århus katedralskole before year 1500. This melody is what the city hall in Århus, designed by the world famous danish designer/architect Arne Jacobsen, plays when the clock strikes the hours. The piece was commisioned and premiered in this concert/recording by Aros (viking word for Århus.) Guitar Duo in 2018.
