On my way home from a fishing trip, I discovered a tiny puppy hiding under my car to escape the heat — friendly, fearless, and impossible to walk away from. Even though I already had plenty of dogs at home, I couldn't bring myself to leave her behind, so I took her in and named her Xiao Mutou. From that day on, she became my inseparable little companion on every fishing trip — stealing bait, running off with my gear, splashing into the water, and turning what used to be quiet, uneventful hours by the pond into something full of life and laughter. And somehow, ever since she came along, my luck with fishing seemed to take a turn for the better, as if she truly brought good fortune with her. Later, I learned that Xiao Mutou had been abandoned alongside her twin sister, and I rushed back to the spot where I first found her to search — but no matter how long we looked, there was no trace of her sister. All I could do was hope that she, too, had been taken in by someone kind, and had found a place to call home. As the days went by, Xiao Mutou grew from a fragile little stray into a healthy, spirited dog, always trotting out the door with me, always staying close by my side, never wandering far.
