Remember The Alan Parsons Project? Why they remained invisible all these years..
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT? / @band-history ============= The Alan Parsons Project is one of the most unusual success stories in rock history. Built by legendary engineer Alan Parsons and songwriter Eric Woolfson, the project broke every rule of the music industry. There was no permanent band, no massive tours, and no rock star frontman. Instead, the duo created carefully crafted concept albums inside the studio, blending progressive rock, orchestration, and groundbreaking production. The story begins at Abbey Road Studios where Alan Parsons worked on historic recordings like Pink Floyd’s Time and Money from The Dark Side of the Moon. Inspired by the possibilities of studio technology, Parsons and Woolfson launched The Alan Parsons Project in nineteen seventy six with Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Over the next decade they released a string of successful albums including I Robot, Pyramid, The Turn of a Friendly Card, and the massive hit Eye in the Sky. Songs like Eye in the Sky, Games People Play, Time, I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You, Don’t Answer Me, Days Are Numbers, and What Goes Up became radio staples around the world. Meanwhile the instrumental Sirius unexpectedly became one of the most recognizable sports themes ever when the Chicago Bulls began using it to introduce Michael Jordan. But behind the success, tensions slowly grew between Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. Different visions, changing music trends, and a long legal dispute eventually brought the project to an end. The Alan Parsons Project disappeared quietly, leaving behind more than fifty million albums sold and some of the most polished recordings ever made. 👉 What’s your favorite Alan Parsons Project song?
