Gyoda City's rice paddy art began in 2008, and in 2015, it was recognized by Guinness World Records as the "world's largest rice paddy art" in terms of area. Typically, the colors are most vibrant from mid-July to August, and the three-dimensional art can be enjoyed until around October before the rice harvest. Four varieties of rice with different colors are used, including "Aya no Kizuna" (green) and "Yukiasobi" (white). The 2026 rice paddy art theme is a collaboration design with the globally popular game "Minecraft."
