AFTERMATH: Hurricane Harvey, VISITING MY HOUSE, Michaels House Is Under Water, Houston Flooding, EP1

On August 25th, 2017, Houston, Texas prepared for what would end up being the worst and costliest natural disaster in U.S. history, estimated at a cost of $190 billion+. That's more costly than Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy combined. Bringing in 25 trillion gallons of rain water and 130mph CAT4 hurricane force winds, Houston and Texas stands strong as we prepare to rebuild a bigger and better city and state. On Monday night, August 28th, I learned that my house had been placed on a Mandatory Evacuation List. I quickly packed a change of clothes and headed for the safest place I could think to go, my mother's house. There I waited out the last day of heavy rain. The next morning, at 2pm, I decided I needed to see it for myself. I needed to see what the heavy flooding had done to my neighborhood and home. My heart breaks for everyone that lost so much, but my heart is also overflowing with all the love that has been sent our way from around the country. The National Guard made such a big impact on the emergency rescue efforts, but the First Responders are who I would like to thank first and foremost. Hundreds of people with monster trucks to commercial vehicles, motor boats to John boats, jet skis to kayaks came out to do anything they could when it came to helping their fellow man. It truly was an unbelievable outpouring of selfless and sacrifice. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you who helped and are helping in every way you can.
