Stand on the bridge. Hear the muskets and the cannon. Watch the Scottish Highlanders make their charge, all around you in stereoscopic 3D. A turning point in American Revolution history, the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge unfolded on February 27, 1776, near Wilmington, North Carolina, where roughly 1,000 Patriot militia faced a Loyalist force of Scottish Highlanders at a narrow wooden bridge over Moore's Creek. The Patriots pulled the planks and greased the beams. In less than 10 minutes, it was over. The victory helped push North Carolina to become the first colony to authorize its delegates to vote for independence, the Halifax Resolves of April 12, 1776. Historians often call it the Lexington and Concord of the South. Your guide, Keeley Turner, is standing on the reconstructed bridge where it happened. We spoke with reenactors on both sides, Patriot and Loyalist, in character and out, to tell the story of the battle and the people who keep its memory alive 250 years later. This film was shot on the Blackmagic Design URSA Cine Immersive in 16K and finished as an Apple Immersive Video and VR180 film in DaVinci Resolve Studio, supersampled to 8K at 60fps for YouTube release. Spatial audio was mixed in Apple Spatial Audio Format, so every musket, every cannon, and every footstep was placed in 3D space around you.
