Choosing the medium tyres turned out to be the wrong call, forcing an early pit stop for softs in an attempt to recover the advantage. Unfortunately, traffic became a major problem. While fighting through the field, I picked up collision penalties that would come back to haunt me later. To make matters worse, I pushed the soft tyres too hard, causing excessive overheating and degradation, which forced a second stop on Lap 9. The second stint wasn't any easier. More traffic, more battles, and more penalties. Despite making several crucial overtakes on the final lap and crossing the line in P2, a total of 10 seconds in penalties dropped me down to P3 after the race.
