I'm worried about the DCU...
After watching Supergirl, I’m starting to get a little worried about the future of James Gunn’s DCU. This isn’t a full review, but after the DCU had so much momentum coming off of Superman, Supergirl feels like a disappointing second step. It’s not terrible, but it also doesn’t do much to build confidence in this new universe. And when a cinematic universe is this early in its life, every movie matters. In this video, we talk about why Supergirl being “just okay” could be a warning sign for the DCU, why origin stories still matter, why the universe currently feels a little directionless, and what James Gunn and DC need to do moving forward if they want this new era to succeed.
