Here's our Yamaha YZF-R6 review. 2016 Yamaha YZF-R6 Bike Review 2016 Yamaha YZF-R6 Bike Review Static Of course, while the YZF-R1 is a very new machine, the old faithful R6 has remained relatively unchanged since 2008 and has always been recognized as one of the premium options for a track or race bike. With only a color scheme change on the 2016 YZF-R6 model, I spent two weeks on the bike, using it for daily commuting as well as weekend fun, and it was impressive, with the bike feeling as if it had picked up a bit of torque since I last properly tested one in 2013. The YZF-R6 has always been an impressive machine on the track or even on the open road, but its peaky nature might leave you wanting a little more torque at times. The inline-four produces sensational power delivery. Fueling is basically perfect, with effortless transitions and the clutch allowing for aggressive downshifting and entry speed. The grunt of the entry is also absolutely addictive and starts low enough that on the road you can have a bit of fun on every road without risking your license, much at all. The YZF-R6's suspension also offered an exceptional ride for daily commuting and everything in between. The bike handles very well with an aggressive, telepathic transmission that at times made me wonder if I was actually telling the bike what to do. The Battlax BT016 tires were also great. The YZF-R6 is a thoroughbred bike, so of course it's an ergonomically aggressive machine, and I did notice the added weight on my wrists, even coming from riding a supersport machine as my daily ride. Taking a little more weight off my legs and core solved that problem, however. I also noticed the heat coming off the bike in heavier traffic, when I wasn't fully leather or wearing pants with heat shields on my legs. It wasn't bad enough to burn, but from testing in the fall, I can see that it's worse in the summer. The bike maintained a stable temperature even in the worst traffic. The brakes, both front and rear, offer great feel, grip, and stopping power. jucaviapri On the move, there's no evidence of this top-heavy feeling; it simply works superbly, moving from side to side without any evidence of a high center of gravity. Upon reflection, it's only in very low-speed corners that this becomes noticeable, and as previously stated, a change in body position and weighting easily resolves that. Finally, the engine. The engine is a gem, absolutely linear through the rev range; the power comes on strong and just keeps coming and going until shift time. Fuel delivery is excellent except for gentle openings off a closed throttle. The bike doesn't have a quickshifter, nor does it need one. Short, crisp shifts are provided both up and down the gearbox, with just a click of the shifter required. The ability to ride the huge rev range and hold onto a gear in tight, twisty conditions makes the R6 an absolute joy to ride on the road. Yamaha has made the R6 a more enjoyable supersport road bike than a track-oriented machine. The YZF-R6 is definitely one of the best motorcycles in the world. R6 R6R R6R R6 YZF YZF R6 R6
