These Chinese Disc Rotors Could Be Revolutionary… Shanghai Bike Show 2026

Welcome back to day three of the Shanghai Bike Show 2026, and once again this place is absolutely packed with the most incredible bike tech coming out of China. Massive thank you once again to the legendary Joe from China Cycling and the Panda Podium team for hosting me out here in Shanghai. Check out Panda Podium here: https://www.pandapodium.cc One of the most fascinating things I came across today was a new ultra-light disc rotor design from RideNow that immediately got my attention. They’re incredibly lightweight, don’t require proprietary brake pads, and seem to take a very different approach to the carbon-ceramic style rotor concept I’ve looked at previously. Whether they’re actually good in the real world though… that’s another question entirely. I also got a look at a stunning 3D printed titanium bike that somehow manages to look both futuristic and slightly terrifying at the same time, alongside some genuinely beautiful chains from YBN and SUMC, two brands that continue to push drivetrain tech surprisingly hard. Sensah or Senteyh, were also showing off an updated version of the 14-speed groupset I checked out last year, and there were loads of smaller tech-focused products around the halls too, including tyre pressure monitoring systems and some new carbon handlebars from CRW designed as direct replacements for Canyon’s proprietary cockpit setup. And perhaps most importantly… I finally got to ride one of the latest ultra-budget Chinese groupsets that costs roughly $300... I was surprisingly good! Honestly, every year this show feels bigger, stranger, and more ambitious. There’s an absurd amount of development happening in Chinese cycling tech right now, and even if some of it turns out to be nonsense, it’s never boring! And of course Shane Miller ‪@gplama‬, and the nero boys ‪@NeroShowCycling‬ are still all over the show, so check them out for even more coverage!!
