Gunman in camouflage mask chases labourer into bushes before fatal shooting in Pleasantville

A 37-year-old labourer was shot dead in Pleasantville, Mon Repos, after a masked gunman reportedly chased him into a bushy area near his home. The victim has been identified as Marlon Williams of #8 Ixora Lane, Pleasantville. Police said around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday June 20, 2026, officers attached to the Mon Repos Police Station received a report of loud explosions heard in the Cedar Drive, Pleasantville area. Officers responded and arrived at #56 Cedar Drive around 6:00 p.m., where they were directed by residents to an area behind the property. There, police found Williams motionless inside a shallow drain surrounded by bushes and stagnant water. The scene was secured and investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3 led by ASP Maraj, processed the area. Police enquiries revealed that around 5:30 p.m., Williams was sitting in the front yard of his home with another person when a white Toyota Aqua pulled up along Ixora Lane. A male wearing a camouflage mask over his face, a black hoodie and blue jeans reportedly exited the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect was allegedly armed with a firearm. Williams ran from the front of his home towards the back along a track leading into bushes, while the person who was with him ran inside the house. Moments later, several loud explosions were heard coming from the back of the property and continuing towards Cedar Drive. Williams was later found dead behind a house at Cedar Drive, Pleasantville.
