In this video, I will show you step-by-step how to prepare Dabo Firfir at home using simple ingredients you may already have in your kitchen. Key Ingredients: • Bread (dabo) • Onion • Tomato • Green chili pepper • Garlic and ginger paste • Berbere spice • korerima • Cooking oil or butter • Salt How to Prepare Dabo Firfir First, finely chop one onion. Then chop the tomatoes (you can also blend them if you prefer a smoother texture). Place a pan on the stove and cook the chopped onion without oil until it loses its moisture. After that, add cooking oil and continue cooking until the onion becomes lightly golden brown. Next, add berbere (adjust the amount depending on how spicy you like it) and cook it for a short time. If the mixture starts sticking to the pan, add a small amount of water. Add garlic and ginger paste along with korerima powder (Ethiopian cardamom) and cook the mixture well so the flavors combine. Then pour in some warm water (be careful not to add too much). Add a little salt—remember that the bread already contains some salt. Chop a green chili pepper and add half of it to the pan (keep the remaining half for later). Add a few fresh rosemary leaves, mix everything well, and remove the pan from the heat. Next, cut the bread into bite-size pieces using your hands or a knife. Place the bread pieces in a large bowl. Slowly spoon the prepared sauce over the bread and gently mix it. Be careful not to mash or break the bread pieces while mixing. Finally, transfer the Dabo Firfir to a serving plate, garnish with the remaining green chili if desired, and enjoy your delicious meal.
