Alain de Benoist (b. 1943) is the most influential philosopher of the European New Right (Nouvelle Droite) and the founder of the think tank GRECE. For over fifty years he has built a project of metapolitics: the idea, borrowed from Gramsci and turned rightward, that cultural and intellectual ground must be won before political power ever changes hands.
