In this episode, we're getting a pair of John Deere X9 combines ready for wheat harvest. The first X9 has developed a vibration that appears to be coming from the feeder house drive system. We remove the left-hand gullwing doors, strip the belts off, and use the crane to remove the feeder house driven sheave assembly for inspection. After finding the issue, we install a brand-new assembly and get everything back together. While we're there, I also show some of the other repairs that have already been completed and a sealing issue we're trying to correct on the vertical auger housing to prevent grain loss. Then it's time to load up the service truck and trailer for the next X9 project. Unfortunately, severe weather is moving into Central Illinois. Tornado warnings, damaging winds, and hail impact communities throughout the area. I share some storm footage and discuss the damage caused by the outbreak before heading to our next repair. The second X9 suffered major rock damage in the rear rotor and discharge beater area. What starts as a simple inspection quickly turns into a major repair involving the removal of the spreader, chopper, return pan, separator grates, shields, and covers just to access the damaged components. We replace the discharge beater frame, supports, ramps, and wear strips before putting everything back together.
