In 2006, gaming wasn't as huge as it once was, but there was already plenty of drama. After the release of the Xbox 360 and PS3, Sony lagged behind online. Hackers like George Hotz warned Sony about security vulnerabilities, but they ignored them. Hotz cracked the PS3, Sony sued him, and Anonymous got angry. They shut down the PSN. Shortly afterward, the personal data of 75 million users was stolen. Sony initially kept quiet, and the community was furious. The PSN was offline for 23 days, and trust and revenue were lost.
