Salve o Choro!

Choro, popularly called chorinho, is considered the first typically Brazilian urban musical genre. The song Flor Amorosa by Joaquim Callado, composed in 1867, is considered the starting point of choro. You can find this and other information in the documentary Salve o Choro!, which shows the origin of choro, tells a bit of its history, highlights the great choro musicians from the end of the 19th century to the present day, and presents the structure and form of the genre. The recognition of choro in Brazil and abroad and its visibility in the media are also themes present in the work. The documentary features the participation of Professor José Amaral, author of the book Chorando na Garoa, musicians Thereza Martins and Ana Claudia Caetano, and musicians Hamilton de Holanda, Henrique Neto, and Luizinho 7 Cordas. National Choro Day is celebrated on April 23rd in honor of the birth of one of the greatest exponents of the genre: the master Pixinguinha. See episode: http://tvbrasil.ebc.com.br/docespecia...
