BBC Two: Margate, Turner and the Prize 2019 (Documentary) feat. Miss Ayaan and Despacito Art School

In 2019, the Turner Prize comes from Margate. Since the painter JMW Turner came to Margate and marvelled at 'the loveliest skies in all Europe', newcomers have arrived, drawn to the seaside and also the sense that they might be able to find a new beginning here. This documentary explores the impact of these influxes of incomers - and the arrival of the Turner Contemporary art gallery - on the town. The programme hears from Miss Ayaan, Activities Manager for Despacito Art School for artists aged 5-12, Margate-born Tracey Emin, the Turner Prize shortlist artists and other Margate residents.
