The forgotten reign of Jaehaerys Targaryen
Jaehaerys II Targaryen only ruled Westeros for three years, but his stint on the Iron Throne was more impressive than some Targaryen kings who ruled for way longer (i.e. Aegon the Unworthy or Mad King Aerys or even Viserys I). Jarry 2 married his sister just like Jarry 1 did, and it was pretty bad political move in a time when Targaryens loved making bad political moves for the sake of indulging their preferences. Aegon V, for example, sacrificed political stability for the sake of granting rights to smallfolk, which his son Jaehaerys II actually managed to uphold while also uniting the entire realm against Maelys the Monstrous in the Fifth Blackfyre Rebellion, aka The War of the Ninepenny Kings. Jarry II was an impressive king, albeit sickly, and his too-soon death paved the way for Aerys II to rule the Seven Kingdoms.
