Elles Bougent : encourager les jeunes filles à choisir les sciences et l’industrie

Raising Awareness of Science Among Young Girls In the Journal de l’Emploi (Employment Journal), Valérie Brusseau, president of Elles Bougent (Women on the Move), discusses the association's initiatives to encourage young girls to pursue careers in science. Since 2005, Elles Bougent has mobilized 15,000 mentors from 350 companies to raise awareness among nearly 48,000 middle and high school girls each year. “Stereotypes still hold too many young girls back from envisioning themselves in these professions, which are nevertheless essential to the challenges of tomorrow,” explains Valérie Brusseau. Company visits, national events, and meetings with female role models help to dismantle these biases.    • TU SERAS SCIENTIFIQUE, MA FILLE !   The book Tu seras scientifique, ma fille (You Will Be a Scientist, My Daughter) by Emmanuelle Larroque also highlights the importance of encouraging young women to pursue scientific careers. It explores concrete ways to overcome stereotypes and value their role in fields such as the energy transition and artificial intelligence. From March 30 to April 3, Elles Bougent is organizing "Elles Bougent pour demain" (Women on the Move for Tomorrow). This week will focus on decarbonization and the technologies of the future.
