Can Bantam Hens Raise Quail Chicks? We Tried It!
We placed quail eggs under a couple of our broody bantam hens and let nature take over. Watching these tiny quail hatch beneath such caring little moms was an incredible experience. While the hatch went very well overall, we quickly realized that having an entire brood of energetic quail chicks was a little overwhelming for the hens. To give both the moms and babies the best chance to thrive, we allowed each bantam hen to keep two quail chicks, and they have been doing an amazing job caring for them. It's fascinating to watch these devoted bantam mothers protect, warm, and teach their adopted quail babies.
