ENTRETIEN ET SOINS DES ROSIERS EN ÉTÉ (émission Jardiner, ça fait du bien ! N°4)

Continuing their production of short, one-off programs demonstrating that "Gardening feels good!", Nicole and Patrick Mioulane invite you to care for and maintain your rose bushes at the end of the first flush of bloom. This video alternates between sequences filmed by Nicole in the superb garden of the Bastide Saint Georges in Forcalquier (Alpes-Maritimes) and in the small MiouMiou's estate. Patrick begins by introducing you to Marsonia (black spot disease of roses), explaining its characteristics and the damage it causes. He advises you to carefully pick off diseased leaves and to only treat with Bordeaux mixture at the beginning and end of the season. Our favorite gardener then presents a rose bush attacked by rust, another fungal disease, and explains its progression and action in detail. He also discusses the most susceptible rose groups and how to treat them. Patrick then shows you some rose bushes whose leaf edges are being eaten away by weevil weevils. He explains that this pest is particularly dangerous due to its larvae, which can be controlled organically with nematodes. Another segment focuses on a spectacular type of damage that's very common this season: the attack of the leafcutter bee, a small solitary bee that cuts through rose bush leaves to line its nest. We conclude the "care" segment with a presentation of bindweed, which can completely invade rose bushes, and some basic advice for limiting its spread. We then meet our gardener under the Provençal sun for a detailed explanation of the pruning to be done after flowering, before concluding with advice on watering and fertilizing. A very detailed and educational video designed to better understand the problems rose bushes face in summer in order to better protect them.
