My First Diesel Truck Is A Ford Legend - Ford F250 7.3 Diesel

They say you should never meet your heroes, but I finally bought mine—and so far, I’m absolutely loving it. Welcome to the newest project on the channel: a classic 1993 Ford F250 powered by the legendary 7.3L IDI diesel engine. For me, sitting in the cab of this truck is like a free passport straight back to childhood. From the distinct look to the rumble of the engine and even that nostalgic old-truck smell, this thing is pure Americana. Full disclosure: I am a total novice mechanic, and this is my first-ever diesel truck. This is going to be a massive learning experience for me, and while I’m thoroughly enjoying the process, I know I’ve got a lot to learn! The video kicks off right after I managed to get this beauty back home to the driveway. We are diving straight into some much-needed triage work to keep this legend on the road: • Rust Prevention: Treating and painting over exposed metal to save the body before we commit to a full sand-and-paint job down the road. • Fuel Selector Valve: Swapping out the old valve to get the dual tanks working right. • Chasing Air Intrusion: Diagnosing a classic 7.3 IDI issue that keeps these old diesels from running right. The stakes were high for day one. We went from a truck that would barely idle for more than 30 seconds after getting it home, to embarking on a two-hour round-trip test drive to pick up a vintage bed topper (which will be a restoration project of its own!). Making it through that first long drive felt like a massive win. I am incredibly excited to finally have my hands on one of these trucks. Since I’m completely new to the diesel world, I am all ears! If you have any experience, tips, or tricks for working on these old IDI trucks, please drop them in the comments—I can use all the help I can get!
