Canarios – Gaspar Sanz | 2016 Kenny Hill Signature Double Top Classical Guitarist David Trevors Demo

Canarios by Gaspar Sanz (1640–1710), performed on a 2016 Kenny Hill Signature Series double top classical guitar. Sanz was a Spanish composer, guitarist, and priest whose three volumes of baroque guitar music — published beginning in 1674 — remain a cornerstone of the classical guitar repertoire. Canarios takes its name from a lively, syncopated dance from the Canary Islands, and its rhythmic energy has made it one of the most beloved pieces in the baroque guitar canon. It later gained even wider recognition as the basis for a movement in Joaquín Rodrigo's Fantasía para un Gentilhombre. The guitar is a Signature Series instrument by Kenny Hill, one of the most respected classical guitar makers working in America today. Built in Santa Cruz, California, the Signature Series represents Hill's finest work — each guitar custom made with a double top construction featuring two thin layers of wood bonded around a Nomex honeycomb core, prized for its resonance, projection, and responsiveness.
