We spent two nights in the new Roofnest Sparrow rooftop tent that is shown here atop a Kia Telluride. We found the Sparrow rooftop tent to be ideal for family campers who need instant and no-fuss shelter. The hard shell tent makes setup and takedown a breeze and allows root to store bedding, pillows, and small items inside the tent. The hard shell is also more durable and aerodynamic than squared-off soft-sided tents. Four strong hydraulic lifts instantly deploy the tent and keep it raised. A comfortable foam pad is included with the tent and will lead to a blissful night of sleep, which we've never said when camping. This tent is almost $3,000, but you will not find a better car camping shelter that is also fun to use.
