Proud of its non-aligned foreign policy, India has capitalized on the intense rivalry between the United States and China to present itself as a reliable partner and a stabilizing force in the global order. Furthermore, the 50% tariffs imposed by Trump for purchasing Russian oil at low prices have allowed India to forge major agreements with the European Union and Great Britain, among others, which in turn have led Trump to negotiate tariff reductions in a deal involving difficult compromises.
