Turnbull's controversial decision to choose French submarines over Japanese draws backlash

The Australian foreign editor Greg Sheridan criticized former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for his decision to abandon plans to acquire Japanese submarines in favour of French submarines. “Abbott I thought, had an excellent plan to get Japanese submarines," Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “If we got Japanese submarines built in Japan, the first one would be half built by now and they'd be nearly in sea trials, but then Turnbull assassinated avid submarines.”
