Cassiopeia is a special express train operated by East Japan Railway Company, Iwate Galaxy Railway, Aoimori Railway, and Hokkaido Railway between Ueno Station and Sapporo Station. Cassiopeia began operation on July 16, 1999 (departing from Ueno) and July 17 (departing from Sapporo). All the cabins are single A sleepers for 2 people, and despite the fact that the special sleeper fare for this train is more expensive than other sleeper limited express trains, it was a very popular train. The name of the train comes from the constellation Cassiopeia.
